Tax Manager

Our client in the Pharmaceutical industry is looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join their team.The chosen candidate will be well-versed in local and international tax law and able to work comfortably with numbers with a good eye for detail.

Responsabilities:
  • Making ready monthly actual tax provisions 
  • Organize and assist the Maltese finance team in the gathering of tax information and ensure tax provisions are correctly booked in a timely fashion
  • Creating appropriate workbooks where necessary for efficient day-to-day collection of information
  • Collaborating with local auditors regarding tax related areas during local statutory audits
  • Assure compliance with all local tax filings and notifications
  • Liaise with the tax authorities on complex tax areas when required 
  • Registering shareholders with the International Tax Unit and compiling tax refund claims
  • Familiar with international tax structures with focus on Maltese structures
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the collection & review (also prepare when needed) 
  • Operating in-depth analytical review of local GAAP and IFRS tax reported numbers across the group entities in accordance with agreed timelines
  • Review and analyze the main drivers driving the effective tax rate both on a territorial and regional level
  • Assuring smooth running of tax reporting systems & processes throughout the year
  • Summarizing & communicating results of all tax reporting processes in an effective and time efficient manner to the tax team

Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant with 4 – 5 years’ experience in taxation with profound understanding of tax provisions, current taxes, deferred taxes (including tax loss carry forwards), reconciliation with cash, etc.
  • Accountable and responsible for the work performed ensuring clear audit trail is kept
  • Ensure compliance requirements are correct and timely
  • Used to working respond to tight deadlines
  • Must be organized and possesses a good attention to detail
  • Keeping abreast on any relevant updates mainly to local tax legislation, but also international
  • Proficient and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel; experience in BPC (or similar) consolidation software will be considered an asset
  • Comfortable in using and exploring accounting software with initiative to create ad-hoc reports
  • Ability to build good working relationships with stakeholders 
  • A person with a positive attitude and a can-do approach encouraging positive team spirit
  • Language Requirement: English
