Financial Controller / Head of Operations

Our client, an international leading provider of corporate, fiduciary and fund administration services, is seeking to recruit an internal Financial Controller / Head of Operations to join their team which presently services a portfolio of international clients reporting directly to the Managing Director.

Responsibilities
  • Overall responsibility for the maintenance and delivery of the accounting records including the Management accounts on a monthly basis (supported by one junior team member)
  • Managing the completion of tax and VAT returns and liaison with Auditors
  • Co-ordination and implementation of group operational projects in conjunction with the Regional Head of Ops, Internal Review team and Local Compliance where applicable;
  • Keeping abreast of developments in taxation and its impact on the practice;
  • Providing support to the management team on ad hoc projects and identifying areas to improve operational efficiency and client profitability;
  • Co-ordinate with Group and local IT teams to ensure local operations operating in good order from an IT perspective;
  • Ensure proper function of office logistics including management of colleagues to ensure office always in order.

Skills and Experience Required

  • The ability to supervise and to take responsibility of the Operational aspect of the firm to ensure an operation within the standards and methodology established by the firm
  • Ability to research tax issues and to communicate findings both orally and in writing;
  • Desire to experience long term career progression within the firm;
  • Proficiency in the use of I.T. and development of excellent skills in the use of client administration software;
  • The ability to establish positive and yet assertive relationships with work colleagues;
  • Organisational & project management skills and the ability to meet deadlines;
  • Must have a “hands on” approach and be humble enough to carry out office mundane tasks when necessary;
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
